How Can I Get A Cheaper Business Energy Quote?

There’s no reliable way to manipulate the system, but starting with accurate information can help you obtain a better quote and avoid unpleasant surprises on your bill later on.

Renewal letters, in particular, can deceptively increase your business energy prices, banking on the fact that it might be easier just to accept the new terms. However, this is often where you can make the most significant savings. Always compare business energy prices before automatically accepting a renewal from your current supplier.

Here are some other useful things to think about that may help you secure cheaper business energy prices:

  • Know how much energy you use by having an up-to-date bill to hand
  • Have all the basic information about your business
  • Understand the tariff that is best suited to your business
  • Do you want security or more flexibility? (This is a choice between a fixed and variable tariff)
  • Are you eligible for any discounts? (VAT reduction or CCL?)
  • You want to have your meter numbers to hand (found on your energy bills)

Small Business Energy Quote

Small business energy users typically consume up to 15,000 kWh of gas and electricity per year, and you can switch suppliers entirely online. You can view live prices in just 30 seconds. If you're interested in a smart meter, your new supplier will often install it for free. Before the switch is finalised, it’s a good idea to take a manual meter reading to ensure that you are not overcharged.

Business Energy Renewal Quote

We always recommend renewing your business energy contract when it reaches its full term to avoid overpaying for inflated prices based on your initial agreement. At the end of your contract, your energy provider may roll your account over to a deemed tariff, which can be significantly more expensive.

A few months before your contract ends, you should receive a renewal letter. This letter indicates the start of your renewal window and is the ideal time for you to switch to a better deal before your current contract expires. It’s crucial to switch as soon as possible to avoid being moved onto a deemed tariff. Some suppliers allow you to lock in a new deal up to 12 months before your contract end date.

Switching is incredibly straightforward. Our team of energy experts is ready to communicate with your chosen supplier to negotiate the best deal for you. We understand that running a business involves many moving parts, which is why our team will handle the process for you and keep you informed every step of the way.

Business Energy Quotes FAQs

There are endless questions those who may be new to switching will want to ask - whether you’ve just moved into your first business premises, or you’ve decided to take control of your business bills and want to see if switching really will save you cash. There are very few questions our energy consultants haven’t heard, so to help you out, we’ve put together some of the most common questions our consultants get asked.

Can I Get A Business Dual Fuel Tariff?

Suppliers do not offer dual-fuel contracts to businesses. This can work in your favour, though, as that means you can source the cheapest deal for each fuel separately without sticking to the same supplier.

What Is The VAT Reduction?

If you’re a registered charity or non-profit, you may be eligible for a 5% discount on your energy bills.

What Is CCL?

CCL is short for Climate Change Levy. This is an added environmental tax paid by businesses on their energy usage. These rates are automatically included in your bill.

Businesses can join the Climate Change Agreement Scheme to pay reduced rates.

Here are the CCL rates for 2025:

  • Electricity (per kWh): 0.775p
  • Gas (per kWh): 0.672p

How Long Does It Take To Switch Suppliers?

We strive to switch you to your new supplier within 5 working days of approval.

Can I Switch Multiple Premises?

What was once a challenging headache is now simple! We can combine your bills for multiple premises using a multi-site meter. This means you have one energy contract for multiple buildings.
